Is Is Northwestern University or University of Chicago a harder school?

I want to know which school is harder to get into, and which will be harder if I make it that far.
I'm a environmental science major.

Both schools are hard to get into. U of Chicago might be slightly harder to get into but because of its geeky, antisocial reputation it ACTIVELY recruits females and minorities.

U of Chicago has a pretty intensive list of distribution/general education requirements and the students are competitive among each other.

Northwestern is really interdisciplinary and stresses interning (through practicums, co-ops, etc.). The students are very supportive of each other and value networking for the future. The course work is intensive but if you take advantage of them, there are lots of resources out there.

You would also have several opportunities to engage with advisors (When you are frosh you are assigned a freshman adviser who is a prof and a peer advisor. Also, you will have an adviser in your major(s) and possibly an additional advisor for your school. If you are involved in a specific program or participate in an internship you will have lots of professor/professional guidance).

Also, note the location. NU is in Evanston, which is super clean, has lots of shops and restaurants to go to and is an easy El ride away from Lincoln Park (yeah Armitage Ave!), Old Town, the Gold Coast & Downtown and Wicker Park (with some transferring) in Chicago.

U of C is in Hyde Park which is a great place to live, if you have a family. Not so cool if you are young and single. One can only go to Woodlawn's, Borders and Bar Louie so much. . . . And really who wants to take Metra or an express bus everywhere?
